Between June and November, thousands of whales migrate from Antarctica to our coasts. From Cape Point to Boyes Drive to Gordon’s Bay and Rooi Els, catch a glimpse of these beautiful ancient creatures visiting just off our shores over the next few months.
Zeitz MOCAA.
Touted as Cape Town’s very own Tate Modern, Zeitz MOCAA boasts one of the largest collections of contemporary African art, and was named as one of TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Destinations of 2018 (a feather in Cape Town’s cap, to be sure).
Located in a former grain silo, the massive nine-storey space has undergone a state-of-the-art overhaul, courtesy of esteemed British architect Thomas Heatherwick, and houses 6 000 square metres of exhibition space within 100 galleries, as well as a restaurant area and a charming Sculpture Garden.

In the 19th century, the Old Power Station brought power to the Cape Town dockyard, blazing a trail for trade in Cape Town and the continent. Today, this powerhouse of innovation is still generating bright ideas through the V&A Food Market. Here, you’ll find more than 42 food and beverage stalls, selling an array of artisanal products. The bustling warehouse has indoor seating available for colder nights.
Nearby, beside the Two Oceans Aquarium, you’ll find The Watershed, a vibrant space with over 150 tenants selling a wide range of goods from fashion and jewellery to ceramics, art, toys and musical instruments.
